March Is Here! Get Your Math Stations Ready!

March is here!!!!!!!! . . . . I know, I know! Can you believe it?

I've busy hunting down and prepping my March Math Stations. I think that all of my math station sets are SUPER engaging, but the march stations are always a big hit with my second graders.

Maybe it's the leprechauns? :)

There are SEVEN math stations in my March Math Stations & Journal Prompts Set

AND . . . 20 Journal Prompts!

You can find my Math Stations & Journal Prompts for March in my TPT store, along with sets for the entire school year!

Weekly Recap: George, Wiggle Butt, and HP Symphony

Monday was Presidents' Day! We made these totes ADORBS George Washington Puppets

All of my kiddos were walking around the classroom like:

"Hi, I'm George!"

"Nice to meet you George, I'm George"

It was hysterical.

We did some other stuff too, like real actual learning, but the puppets were definitely the highlight.

George Washington Puppet

We had a veterinarian (who also happens to be the sister of one of my teammates!) come and speak to the kiddos about frogs!

We have been studying rain forests and life cycles and she tied in both. She was amazing and I LOVE that my team has a tradition of providing these kinds of experiences for our students!

On Tuesday night, I watched 2018 American Rescue Dog Show (which the Bae had recorded for me). I laughed, I cried. I have to say my favorite category was Wiggle Butt, but the Best Kisser was pretty cute too!

Rain forests research continued. Wild cats reign with my kiddos. They are obsessed with jaguars and cougars. I'm obsessed with sloths!

And we played a Guess My Number partner game in math. It is pretty simple, and we used a 200 chart. Basically, students select a number and give their partner clues until their partner guesses correctly.

Their favorite part is using a highlighter to select their numbers!

On Thursday my kiddos finally opened up to me about the Parkland shooting. I spent a full week thinking that they were blissfully unaware until we watched a video about Abraham Lincoln.

One of my littles raised their hand and said "17 kids were assassinated in Florida." From the mouths of babes.

We spent time reviewing our lockdown procedures instead of proceeding with our math lesson.

This has been heavy on my heart for a long while . . . but things really hit home for me when my 7 & 8 year old kiddos decided that they needed to practice the procedure for an armed assailant instead of participating math game Thursday . . . . my heart broke.

Friday at school we had a safety assembly and reviewed all of our school drills and procedures. We also had a fire drill. . .

Friday night, Hubs & I went to see the HP #2 with the NC Symphony performing the soundtrack. It was AMAZING! We also went to HP#1 and will most definitely be going to the next one!!!

Happy Weekend Teacher Friends!

Presidents' Day is Tomorrow!!!!!!

Need some last minute Presidents' Day ideas? Here is what we are doing in my little part of the world!

In math we will graph and interpret our data with this fun Spin & Graph Presidents' Day Activity! Just add a paper clip y'all!

We will read the Kindle Version of "If I Were President" by Catherine Stier. Projecting books on my SMARTBoard has saved me SO much time this year and NO one will complain that they CAN'T SEE!

Also, Monday is our Chrome cart day (Hallelujah!) so my kiddos are going to do a little research about our founding father, George Washington!

I will also share some of the photos from our Christmas 2017 trip to Washington DC where the hubs and I visited The White House, Mount Vernon, and the Capitol!

Happy Presidents' Day everyone!

Five for Fruesday: Natalie Grant, Wrestling, & SALE!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

This is a picture of the SWEETEST group of third grade boys EVER!

I have a HUGE selection of math games, but they ALWAYS want to put together these time puzzles during Game rotation.

On this day, they asked me to take a picture of them. Tho' thweet!

This past Saturday my sis-in-law and I went to see one of our FAVORITE Christian singers  . . . ok, for real, she is my actual favorite of all time . . . Natalie Grant!!!!

She was absolutely amazing and we left feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world and shine bright!

That feeling when your kids have earned free time, and all they want to do is teach math to stuffed animals. . . . right after this Piggy was assigned an "F".  :/

And, I've been making it through January one strawberry daiquiri at a time.

How can one of the most BORING months of the year also be one of the most STRESSFUL?

You may notice that I was watching wrestling . . . this is a judgement free zone right?

And lastly, but certainly not leastly, there is a SALE going on over at Teachers Pay Teachers.

DO NOT FORGET to enter the code in before you checkout!!! I do it EVERY time!!!!!!

If you're looking for some suggestions, here a few favorites from my store:

Distributive Doctors, Home Sweet Goodbye

This week in third grade was all about the distributive property.

Maybe its just me . . . but I don't find learning about properties all that exciting so I was THRILLED when I discovered this cute Distributive Doctor set.

I added some surgical masks and gloves and . . . WA-LA . . . they were eating out of the palm of my hands.

Some of the questions they are asked on assessments using the distributive property are redunculous - we need all the help we can get.

On a personal note, this week was bittersweet after I put my first house on the market and received an offer within 30 HOURS!!

Here I am four years ago, achieving my life long dream of home ownership. SOOOO exciting!!!!

I LOVE my new place AND whom I share it with, but I can't help feeling sentimental about a time where it was just me and the cat, making it on our own.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Singing Crabs & Skip Counting Trains

We're starting off the year with multiplication. My kiddos had a bad case of cabin fever so I decided we should do some activities that got us up and moving.

We haven't seen each other for 25 DAYS!!! due to winter break followed by an ice storm!!! Needless to say, I was beyond thrilled to see their little faces again on Thursday!

First we built skip counting trains. I assigned them a number of cubes to construct each section of the train with.

Then I had them skip count to find how many cubes they had in their trains in all . . . I saw some great strategies in action!

We also played Roll & Color: Multiply by 3 (FREEBIE!) and Roll & Color: Multiply by 6. (No kid photos, I was too busy playing!)

We rounded out each day with a skip counting video.
We've watched (and memorized) almost ALL of the skip counting videos on YouTube from Have Fun Teaching

Our favorite is the 9's!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a random bird and a singing crab - what more could you ask for? These are SO catchy!

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm going to round out my week by playing a few rounds of Candy Crush, followed by a shopping spree at Target. (I'm buying a new broom, woo-hoo!)
