Hi friends! My Bright Ideas post this week is about using recycled materials for math enrichment with Challenge Cans!
To construct Challenge cans you will simply need a few tin cans, duct tape & clear tape.
I wrapped each can in duct tape and stuck the word "Challenge" on the front of each one with clear tape.
I was working on these during morning arrival and my kids were oooohing and ahhing over these bad boys. I was surprised at how excited they were about duct tape wrapped cans, but they SO were!
Inside of each can I placed a challenge problem related to our current fraction study. I also counted out some counting chips and placed those in each can to give them a little extra oompf.
Eventually I am aiming to have about 10 cans so that they are not in constant rotation, currently I have 6. I guess I should stock up on canned vegetables!
Be sure to check out more Bright Ideas at the blogs linked up below! :)
Isn't duct tape amazing! I'll have to buy some canned veggies, too!

Isn't it funny how some duct tape and cans CAN make your class ga-ga for them?? LOL! What a clever and cute idea! I put my stuff in a folder but cans would be more fun and probably more colourful and inviting too!! Thanks for sharing your bright idea!!

Hello Mrs Sykes
I love this idea and I have PLENTY of duct tape to do this with:) I am curious if students record their answers somewhere or if it just for them to work on and check themselves?
