The Sweet, Sweet Sounds of Shapes & Peek at My Week

Last week (on Thursday & Friday) we began our Geometry unit. I decided to kick things off by reviewing the NAMES of the shapes.

(I had noticed during math stations that some friends were referring to the hexagon as the "yellow square". . . .)

Yeah so, obviously, some review was needed. Friday we danced and sang our way into re-memorizing the names of basic 2D shapes.

Below is just a sampling of the shape songs available for FREE from Have Fun Teaching on youtube.

This week we continue our unit on Geometry. Right now we are just working on 2.G.1. Click on the images below to take you to a Google Doc with clickable links.

  1. Have you seen the polygon song? It's another good one for shapes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWLPqWVajUE&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PLYFJxAa5-Gmm5Ehdfmh3nULqlC5YZ1epc
